Globecomm Awarded Multimillion Dollar Teleport Relocation Project for UAE telco du

Globecomm has been selected by the Middle East’s fastest growing telecommunications service provider and the largest teleport operator in the Middle East – du, for the design and integration of satellite teleport systems at the company’s new facility in the UAE.

The turnkey project will lead to the phased transfer of the company’s broadcast satellite transmission services to the new facility and provide design and integration for the new Teleport. According to Globecomm, the project will involve the upgrade and the phased relocation of the existing teleport facility and will migrate live traffic without interruption of critical services.

“This is an enormously challenging and important project for not only a long-time, honored customer and major teleport operator, but for one that is considered the best broadcast teleport in the world,” said Globecomm CEO, Keith Hall, referring to du’s selection as the 2013 Independent Teleport Operator of the Year by World Teleport Association.

The new teleport will consist of more than 50 earth stations with satellite antenna diameters ranging from 2.4 to 9 meter in C-, Ku- and DBS Frequency Bands. In addition, the upgrade will include the provisioning of all supporting systems; i.e. Baseband, Network Management, Video Confidence Monitoring, Occasional Services, Turnaround Services, Carrier Monitoring, Fiber Optic and others.

The Dubai-based teleport links the majority of Direct to Home (DTH) TV Platforms in the Middle East and North African (MENA) Region. du provides a variety of integrated services including quad-play data, video and content services over fixed as well as mobile networks to residential and enterprise customers across the region.
