Eesti Telekom Has Stopped Broadcasting Russian TV Channels

The largest Estonian cable operator Eesti Telekom has stopped broadcasting Russian TV channels. The provider didn’t manage to make agreement with the Baltic Union of Authors and Distributors about broadcasting the Russian channels.

The royalties appeared to be the main problem. Eesti Telekom announced that Union demands for further broadcasting Russian TV channels “Russia 24”, RBC, KHL, “My planet”, WFC, “RTR-Russia” and TVCi are too categorical, and the operator decided to decline them.Estonian company noted that in case of acceptance of all terms presented by Baltic Union the prices for subscribers will increase, while the quality of the service will decrease. As a result they decided to suspend the TV channels broadcasting.
