The technical troubles in Proton-M carrier rocket led to postponing the launch of the Express-AM8 Communications Satellite into the circumterrestrial orbit.
The Proton had to be returned to its manufacturer, the Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center, and the launch was rescheduled for the late summer.
At the Baikonur Space Center it appeared impossible to eliminate the technical troubles, which impeded rocket launching. In the Proton’s two-stage pipelines it was detected metal dust impossible to eliminate outside the plant’s facilities.
This is not the first time that the devices manufactured by the company have appeared technically faulty. We shall recall the postponement of the MLM module’s launch for the Russian part of the ISS, caused by technical problems in pipelines. Due to the technical troubles in Proton-M carrier rocket in 2013 and 2010 the Glonass-M spacecrafts failed to be put into orbit, as the rocket explored right after its launch.
