Gazprom Space Systems Company started moving the Yamal-300K satellite to a new position.
OJSC Gazprom Space Systems initiated the process of moving the Yamal-300K satellite, first located in 90°E orbital position, to a new 177°E orbital position.
According to the Russian company experts’ estimates, the process of moving the satellite will take about six weeks; therefore it will be prepared for commercial service in the new position by the end of May. Located in a new orbital position, the satellite will be able to provide signal coverage of the Far East and East Asia, and its steered beam can be used to provide coverage of South-East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
In the course of moving the satellite and its subsequent configuring to operate in that new orbital position, the spacecraft will be supervised by the Mission Control Center of OJSC Gazprom Space Systems in Schyolkovo, with the assistance of the East Control Center in Skvortsovo near Khabarovsk. Both these centers are connected via fiber-optic lines and a satellite channel (via the Yamal-401 satellite, 90°E), which ensure the exchange of commands, telemetered data and information required for settings adjustment.
