The Russian television loses young audience, and most of its viewers are aged people, as «Sostav.ru» informs.
According to the TNS Russia’s research, the last year’s average viewership was 72% of the population, like in 2013. It’s also worth considering that the number of Russians has increased by 300 thousand.
According to TNS TV Index (100000+) children and youth audience has been reducing gradually, but steadily: among 4-17 year-old viewers its number has dropped by 2% (up to 59%), and among 18-34 year-old viewers by 1% (up to 60 %).
The Russian television’s loyal viewers remain mainly people of the senior audience: among people in the range of 35-54 years old the proportion of television viewing is 78%, and among people 55 years old plus this proportion is 84%.
This statistics evidences that that 28% of Russia’s population don’t watch TV on a daily basis. But therewith the time spent on watching TV experiences a 3% increase. On average, Russians spend over 4 hours a day watching television, aged people (55 plus) – over 6 hours, and children under 17 – not above 2 hours.
It’s worth taking into account that these studies’s data are not divided into terrestrial, cable or satellite TV viewing. They don’t show as well what are the TV channels preferred by TV viewers.
