The television broadcast of the football matches of the Russian Premier League has fallen in price.
On the eve of starting the new season 2015/2016, scheduled for July, 19, the Russian Football Premier League is likely to remain without any official broadcaster of its matches.
TASS informs, NTV-Plus TV Company, which bought from Liga-TV the exclusive right to broadcast matches for USD 130 million in the season 2014/2015, intends to pay less this season.
According to the information available to TASS, the contract amount reduced from RUR 2.2 billion to RUR 1.9 billion per season. At the same time Liga-TV Company, the commercial representative of the Russian Football Premier League, can only count on RUR 1.4 billion of this amount, as half a billion will be invested in the content production. In addition, the satellite operator intends to seek for even more rights in the new contract, than it gained in the previous one.
That situation was refused to be commented to TASS journalists both by Dmitry Chukovsky, the head of the TV Company’s sports sector, and Liga TV’s representatives.
Roman Babayev, CEO of CSKA club said on the general meeting of the teams within the Russian Football Premier League, held last week, that the offer of NTV-Plus was not acceptable for football clubs.
