Since June 17 the Analog TV of Kyrgyzstan can no longer rely on defending its frequencies. This situation is committed in the International agreement Geneva-2006.

The entry into force of this law marked the end of the second stage of digitalizing country’s TV broadcasting. According to Temir Sariyev, the Prime Minister, the digital TV will bring broadcasting in Kyrgyzstan closer to the international standard and will allow viewers to receive TV signal in high quality.

Sariyev points out that the Government has taken an active role in this process by allocating KGS 300 million, which are gradually invested in technical re-equipment of transmission companies, incorporated into a free package, the content production for these companies, as well as the purchase of set-top boxes for socially vulnerable families.

Stages of implementing digital terrestrial broadcasting in Kyrgyzstan

1st stage completed on November, 6, 2014

2nd stage until May 2015

3d stage June – October 2015

4th stage to be completed in September 2016

Today, the reception of digital TV broadcasting is available now in 91% of the country. Residents of 6 regions, except for Naryn Region, situated high in the mountains, can receive a package of social channels, which includes 6 national ones (Mir (World), OTRK, Balastan, Channel 5, Madaniyat and ElTR) and one regional channel. In the near future, this package is expected to expand with additional 4 channels like OshTV, Sport, Zdorovie (Health) and Music.
