The Kyivstar Company calculated the number of Smartphones of its subscribers. According to the mobile operator, the number of such devices increased by 2.3 million over the past year, and amounted to nearly 7.7 million. Over 6 million of them support the 3G-standard.
The vast majority (75%) prefers the Android OS. They amount to 5.7 million out of total, and 5.5 million of them are Smartphones.
Mobile devices based on iOS also show some growth, although more modest. Their number increased up to 160000 and currently stands at 8.5% (654000 in total and 622000 of Smartphones) of the total number of devices used by subscribers.
The third rating position occupied by mobile devices based on Windows OS, the total of which is near 250 thousand. The number of Kyivstar subscribers preferring these devices for communications increased by near 70 thousand during the year.
Bada and Symbian have been loosing their popularity. The Bada phones dropped to 147 thousand during the year (less by 13%), and the Symbian devices lost 22% of their last year rate, and actually amount to 894 thousand.
This study was conducted in terms of criteria used by mobile providers. There are taken into account devices, which remained active for at least 3 months (used for sending SMS, calls, mobile internet). Each device is calculated once.
