Gazprom Space Systems Group (GSS) successfully relocated Yamal-300K into the slot of 177°E. It took over a month, i.e from April 15 until May 25. In that new slot the satellite signal will cover Alaska, the Far East, Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea.

According to the GSS, the vehicle was successfully tested and actually brought into commercial operation. As it covers the Far East, the mobile operators will willingly use Yamal-300K for establishing coverage and networks in that area.

According to Igor Kot, ComNews Group’s marketing and business planning vice-director, there were already signed contracts for 10% of the satellite’s capacities, and another 50% are virtually agreed and subject to signing soon. The Company intends to put into operation 80% of Yamal 300K capacities by next summer. GSS representative didn’t specify companies entered into contract.

By its overall dimensions the satellite Yamal-300K is a mid-sized one. The satellite was put into orbit by Proton rocket in the slot of 90°E almost three years ago, i.e. on November, 3, 2012. It was used mainly by Russian companies. Designed for uninterrupted 14-year operation, Yamal-300K is equipped with 18 Ku-band transponders and 8 C-band transponders of 72 MHz each.
