The main news of the satellite operator Spacecom on IBC – 2015 was the upcoming launch of their next satellite.

Scheduled for launch to orbital location 4°W in 2016, Spacecom’s AMOS-6 satellite will replace AMOS-2, and join AMOS-3, strengthening the position with wider coverage and new services and provid in-orbit satellite redundancy, which enables backup capabilities and the highest service reliability.

AMOS-6 will include:

  • 3 Ku-Band beams covering Middle East, Central East Europe (CEE), and Pan-Europe
  • 36 Ka-band spot beams over Africa, Middle East and Europe.

AMOS-6 High Throughout spot-beams offer excellent solution for data intensive market segments, such as Broadband services, Backhaul and WiFi Hotspots, allowing for high speed internet to consumers as well as business customers.

With 36 optional beams, AMOS-6 has the flexibility to operate up to 24 beams, each with about 1Gbps of capacity, via 3 Gateways, covering specific regions in Africa and Europe.

The high power and multiple Ku-band transponders of AMOS-6 offer Spacecom’s existing and new customers a reliable business growth-engine. This enhances Spacecom’s existing service offering by supporting a full range of services. Ka-band transponders provide new technological possibilities for satellite high speed internet, data and video transmission.

Jehuda AmirJehuda Amir, VP Sales C.I.S. and Romania, said to Mediasat that AMOS-6 will provide a great opportunities in the Eastern European market and especially in Ukraine. “The satellite beam is focused on Ukraine, due to this we will provide a better possibilities to our multiple customers in Ukraine. It can serve TV channels, DTH – platforms, data transmission and satellite internet”.
