The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (GPU) has been investigating the reasons for the Zeonbud to become a monopoly of digital terrestrial TV broadcasting.

The GPU initiated criminal proceedings into the crime, committed by former members of the National Broadcasting Council, which led to the monopolization of Ukrainian digital terrestrial TV space by the company Zeonbud, as reported by the portal Deputy’s Control.
The case was initiated pursuant to Article 364 of the Criminal Code on abuse of office. It is most likely that due to illegal acts committed while holding competitive tenders for the selection of provider ensuring digital TV signal distribution, the company became the monopoly in that market.
We shall recall that in June, the Kyiv Appeal Administrative Court returned the monopolistic status to the Zeonbud.
As a result, the winner represented by the Zeonbud set excessive tariffs for TV channels, threatens them to cut them off in case of failure to pay and runs encoding of TV channels’ signal, which is prohibited by licence terms and conditions. All this ensures an unlawful enrichment of the company.
