The online video service Megogo has a stab at creating its own media product. The debut will become new episodes of the famous cartoon about Ukrainian Cossacks.

According to the news agency RBC-Ukraine quoting Ivan Shestakov, Marketing Director at Megogo, the Company signed a cooperation agreement with the film studio Ukranimafilm. Under the agreement, the studio will be engaged in producing new cartoon episodes and Megogo will finance this project.
The production of new episodes of Cossacks is scheduled to complete in June 2016, in order to coincide with the final round of Euro-2016. In the continuation of the cartoon serial, sure to be well-remembered by all adults, Cossacks will become football players and from episode to episode will compete with football teams from different countries.
Megogo does not disclose the amount to be invested in producing that cartoon serial. According to filmmaking market experts, one minute, produced by Ukrainian animation artists, is estimated about EUR 1000.
The new season of the cartoon about the Cossacks will be just the first Megogo’s step towards the creation of own film and TV product. It is known that the service’s management is actively working on arranging joint projects for the production of youth programs and entertaining and educational content.
In this case Megogo will become the exclusive right holder of the product. In addition, according to Mr. Shestakov, it will be easier for the service to monitor such content.
The cartoons bring the Megogo Company near 30% of total revenues.
The video service Megogo holds a leading position in the global market. It is focused on the Russian-speaking audience. Each month its services are enjoyed by over 43 million people, 9 million of whom are Ukrainian residents. Almost 90% of Megogo’s video product is available for free, provided for viewing advertising units. The rest of the content is available on a fee basis. Hundreds of thousands of subscribers are ready to pay for using Megogo’s video resources, and the vast majority of them (70%) watch the content on SmartTV.
