Tricolor TV connects six million HD subscribers and runs Ultra HD

The number of users of the HD-TV service by “Tricolor TV”, one of the leading operators of Russian TV, crossed the line of six million viewers. It totals over 50% of all the company’s customers.

According to the IHS Technology Company, the world leader in media services market research, the Russian TV provider “Tricolor TV” is the leader in Europe and one of the three largest companies in the world in terms of number of users connected to the high-definition broadcasting service. From January to November this year, the operator managed to increase the number of HD subscribers by 10.5% (1.45 million people) up to near 52% of all the clients of the “Tricolor TV”. On the Russian high-definition TV broadcasting market the “Tricolor TV” with its 45% does not have any competitors.
Among the advantages of HD TV by the “Tricolor TV” the users mention the following ones: available connection, excellent quality of relayed images, and availability of well-known TV channels in the basic package.
It is known that high-definition broadcasting was run by the “Tricolor TV” on July 24, 2012, when the operator’s multiplex “Tricolor TV Full HD” started its operation.
Since November 15, the “Tricolor TV” runs test broadcasting of two TV channels relaying their content in Ultra HD quality. These channels are available to get in the areas covered by the signal of communications satellites Eutelsat 36A/36B (36°E). One of the channels, INSIGHT UHD, is of entertaining and educational nature, and its content is represented by programs and broadcasts about travelling, entertainment, interesting historical and today’s events, beauties of nature. The second one, Tricolor Ultra HD, will allow audience to watch feature movies of all the existing genres in 4K format.
