The Russian company MTS informed that the number of subscribers to DTH-platform, launched at the end of last year, totaled just several dozens of thousands of people.
Vasiliy Latsanich, MTS Vice-President for Marketing, quoted by ComNews, stated that, despite the overall satisfaction of the MTS product quality and good feedback from customers, the company has never denied the need to increase the sales of its services.
He added that if MTS had entered the DTH-services market many years ago, in stead of investing vast funds in the mobile sector, so the actual number of subscribers to the platform would have totaled 10 million. At the same time, Mr. Latsanich named DTH-platform one of the points of maximum growth of the company’s business, mentioning its competitive positions, including, above all, the availability of additional interactive services.
ComNews points out that if experts previously expected that the subscriber base of the platform would amount to 150 thousand subscribers by the end of present year, so now it is more realistic in their forecasts the figure of 100 thousand.
