The provider owned by Petr Alekseevich Poroshenko announced its shutdown.
According to “Delo.ua”, the digital terrestrial TV provider Maximum TV is about to terminate its operation by the end of this year. The reasons for its shutdown are not reported.
The TV Company Maximum TV started operating in 2006. According to the Unified State Register, it is the property of the LLC “Firma Ekran”, the ultimate beneficial owner of which is specified as Poroshenko Petr Alekseevich. It provided its customers with access to all Ukrainian, as well as the most popular Russian and foreign TV channels, represented in the main or thematic packages.
As pointed out by the media expert Alexander Glushchenko, the digital terrestrial TV provider had to shut down due to the use in its operation of the satellite system MITRIS, which actually remained outdated. This technology requires the “line-of-sight” of the communications satellite, so it is not relevant for highly populated areas. Alexander Glushchenko believes it was the very reason that Maximum TV announced the termination of its activities.
