The satellite movie channel “STAR cinema” starts broadcasting in Ukraine

The “Star Media TV” will launch the satellite movie TV channel “STAR cinema”.
January 28, the National Broadcasting Council issued a satellite broadcasting license to the company “Star Media TV”. The audience will be offered movies and TV series produced by the company “Star Media”.

According to the company’s spokesman, the TV channel will not broadcast US movies, but only those produced in the CIS. The core content of the TV channel “STAR cinema” will be the library of the “Star Media”’s products, which currently accounts for 4.5 thousand hours. These are one- and two-part movies, as well as 4-, 8- and 12-episode TV projects. They also promise to broadcast premium-quality serials.
In general, the content concept of the “STAR cinema” provides for broadcasting movies within 20 hours of airtime. 1 broadcasting hour will be devoted to entertainment TV shows. Advertising on TV channel is not stipulated.
All members of the National Broadcasting Council supported unanimously the grant of license to the “Star cinema”, for which the broadcaster has to pay a license fee of UAH 179 thousand (the fee increased by 30% in view of availability of foreign products in the content concept).
The TV channel will broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in encoding BISS. The content distribution covers Ukraine and other countries within the reliable signal area using the satellite ASTRA 4A (4.8°E). The license is granted for the term of ten years.
