Desiring to enter the foreign market, the Russian TV company was not stopped by old offences.

The company “Channel One. Worldwide Network” will promote its content in foreign countries via the video service Kartina.TV.
The reason for the company’s choice in favor of that operator was the implementation of the codec HEVC/DASH, which ensures the TV channel’s broadcasts in HD-quality even at a small internet speed. It is stated that the Kartina.TV’s codec implementation costs amounted to near USD 7 million.
Alexey Efimov, CEO at the “Channel One. Worldwide Network” pointed out that the company had been exerting every effort to develop the broadcasting of the Group’s TV channels by cooperating with many pay-TV operators in other countries. And the Kartina.TV service was attractive due to using modern and conventional TV signal delivery technologies to provide quality services to its subscribers. Especially in those countries where the Group’s TV signal was not available for whatever reason.
We shall recall that the video service Kartina.TV provides its services of distributing Russian TV channels via the Internet to Russian-speaking residents in foreign countries. Nearly half of the operator’s users live in Germany.
Last November, the Mediasat reported that the Public Prosecution Office of the German city of Frankfurt on the Main received a claim, filed by the German Bundesliga about the Service’s copyright infringements. Several Russian TV companies, including the “Channel One. Worldwide Network”, claimed an unauthorized distribution of their broadcasting content.
