The Roscosmos does not comment on the details of the deal now, as it is a commercial secret.

The project “Sea Launch”, which assists in launching rockets in the equatorial Pacific, has found a buyer.

This was told to “RBC” by Igor Komarov, Director of Roscosmos.

But, according to him, he can not announce the new owner of the Pacific launch pad and the contract value, as the document execution is still in progress.

We shall recall that the Mediasat reported before on the plans of acquiring “Sea Launch”, spoken out by Chinese investors, and then by the US Company American Industrial Acquisition Corp.

The troubles of the “Sea Launch” have started since the middle of 2014 due to the political situation between Ukraine and Russia. The project was suspended in view of rockets “Zenit-3SL” used for launches and made by the Dnepropetrovsk plant “Yuzhmash”. Later on, the Mediasat reported that the platform would not operate until the latter half of 2015, leaving only part of the staff. Last year, the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) “Energia” could see just three development options for the sea launch platform: bankruptcy, sale either to an investor or to the Roskosmos. A bit later, it became known that the Russian Federation was eager to withdraw the “Odyssey” platform and the project command ship from the US port. Late December of the past year, the edition informed that the search for a buyer of that sea rocket launch platform were still in progress.
