The company is about to expand significantly its Vodafone TV service by incorporating scientific and educational content, as well as children’s channels. In addition, the Vodafone Ukraine works on designing applications for Smart-TV and mobile devices based on the Windows OS.
Today, the Vodafone TV’s subscribers may, at no extra fee (including for the traffic) and on 3 devices, watch 3 packages, which include 45 TV channels. The “Cinema” Package’s library accounts for over 3,000 movies, TV series and TV shows in high quality. The “Football” Package is represented by four football TV channels broadcasting live the championships and competitions of any level. The third package “Ether” incorporates 41 TV channels and provides for using various functions like TV-pause, parental control, etc. Furthermore, each of the packages makes it available to listen to online and terrestrial radio.
According to Eugeniy Donde, Head of Content Department, the wide expansion of 3G communications leads to the increasing consumption of the Internet traffic to view different video products (within the Vodafone Ukraine’s network it is about 20% of the total traffic). In this regard, the popularity of the Vodafone TV service is also growing.
The leader among subscribers to the Vodafone TV service is the package of terrestrial TV channels, which is watched by 56% of users on their mobile devices. A quarter of subscribers prefer the “Cinema” Package, and 19% opt for football TV channels, but the number of people wishing to join the “Football” Package is constantly growing. The service for football fans is more expensive than others, i.e. UAH 11 per week, while the fee of the package offers “Ether” and “Cinema” is just UAH 21 per month.
