This information was made public by Lubomir Szabados, Chairman of the National Space Agency of Ukraine.

The telecommunications satellite “Lybid” will be set into the geostationary orbit this year. Its launch is scheduled to carry out by joint efforts of Ukraine and Canada represented by the company “MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates» (MDA), as the UNN informs.

The process of designing and launching the space vehicle “Lybid” was a real epic initiated in 2009. Since then, the plans for setting it into orbit have repeatedly changed.

In November last year, it became known that the satellite “Lybid” was stored in the facilities of the Krasnoyarsk enterprise “Information Satellite Systems- Reshetnev Company”.

Later on, the Russian edition “Izvestiya”, referring to Rano Dzhurayeva, President of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Infrastructure Facilities (TSENKI), reported that Russia was prepared for launching that Ukrainian satellite into orbit.

At the same time, the start-up and other supporting operations required additional funding, and that issue was spoken out by the Canadian company MDA.
