The national digital TV operator of Kazakhstan “Kazteleradio” made organizational arrangements aimed at decoding digital terrestrial TV signal, as operator informs.

Askar Khairushev, Chairman of the Board at “Kazteleradio”, insists that the abolition of coding opens up digital terrestrial TV market to all manufacturers of digital TV receivers, which in turn will lead to lower prices for them. Thus, TV audience will get a wider range of receivers at more favorable prices.

Initially, the conditional access system introduced by “Kazteleradio” suggested a number of service, accounting and technical arrangements. But later, the operator’s management put at the top an easy and accessible connection to the digital terrestrial network, along with an acceptable price for receivers.

Let us recall that the digital terrestrial broadcasting network in Kazakhstan was run in July 2012. At that time, the broadcasting started in five major cities. The second phase of the digital terrestrial TV network deployment was held in 2013, when digital terrestrial TV started its operation in all administrative centers of regions and fully in the Mangystau region.

Today, the access to digital terrestrial TV broadcasts is available to 11.5 million people in Kazakhstan, which is equal to 72 per cent of population. By efforts of “Kazteleradio” it is actually run 336 digital radio and TV stations. However, the analog network keeps on operating accounting for 1220 stations.

The digital terrestrial network operates basing on the DVB-T2 standard. As formerly in Ukraine, Kazakhstan used Irdeto Cloaked CA for signal coding.
