The number of internet users and IPTV in Belarus increased

The Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus presented the results of the modern national information and communication infrastructure development.

The Ministry of Communication stated in information report that during the first quarter of this year the number of IPTV subscribers and fixed broadband Internet access users in Belarus has increased.

Thus, the number of IPTV-subscribers increased by 84.2 thousand, and as of July 1 it consisted of 1.395 million people.

60 thousand of new subscribers became the clients of broadband Internet access providers, and as of July 1 the total number was 2963000 people.

The number of Internet users connected via GPON technology also increased. As of July 1 their number was 818.8 thousand, an increase of subscribers number was 234.9 thousand.

In this report enlargement of the external channel for Internet access is also noted. It was increased by 67 Gb / s and as of July 01 it is 870 Gbit / s.

In the first six  months of 2016 22 units of the transmitting equipment were put into operation on the territory of Belarus. These are the three digital television transmitters of DVB-T standard, and 19 radio transmitters. Air digital television broadcasting on a commercial basis has attracted more than 119,600 subscribers.

Mobile communication in Belarus is available at 98.2 per cent of the territory where 99.9 percent of the population live. The total number of mobile subscribers is 11.5 million.

In December of the last year in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, LTE-network was launched. The second stage of this technology implementation suggests that LTE-connection will be available in all regional centers by the end of this year.
