Vodafone and Nokia tested LTE network in Ukraine

Vodafone Ukraine together with technical specialists of Nokia held a series of tests for LTE 2100 and LTE 1800 FDD solutions, having achieved the speed over 173 Mbit/s for data receiving and more than 48 Mbit/s for data transmission.
The tests were made in Ukraine in the closed premises that belong to Vodafone Ukraine. As a consequence, the technicians managed to deploy a fragment of the fourth generation LTE network (Long Term Evolution), or 4G, at the Vodafone platform.
In Vodafone’s press release it is noted that the main purpose of the tests is planning and deployment of LTE network and its integration into the existing network infrastructure. There was also tested interoperability of UMTS and GSM networks with LTE network to support operation of the basic service – providing data transmission and a voice calls and SMS, aggregation of frequencies 2100 and 1800 MHz spectra.
Data transfer speed in the tested Vodafone LTE-network was 173 Mbit/s for receiving and 48 Mbit/s for data transmission.
Vodafone telecommunications operator provides 4G-communication services for more than 47 million Internet users worldwide. 4G or LTE technology today is quite widespread – this standard is used in commercial networks in 170 countries.
Lately in July 4G-network tests were already held in Ukraine. Intellecom company together with Ericsson and Huawei have made a presentation of LTE TDD technology.
As a reminder, on 28 January there was defined the contest winner which will be engaged in the preparatory work for implementation of the fourth-generation communications in Ukraine.
