On August 9, 2016 the Ukrainian telecommunications operator LIFECELL set a world record for data transmission speed during the 4.5G technology testing. Testing was performed on Huawei equipment. The press-service of LIFECELL reported this to Mediasat.
By using a five-channel data transmission in test conditions there was achieved a record data download speed – 1.5 Gbit / s. A common aggregate range of 100 MHz (5 * 20 MHz bands) on different frequency ranges: L2100, L2600, L900, L1800, L800, was used for this.
Along with testing 4.5G technology, LIFECELL also carries out 4G technology tests.
Also, today the operator builds third-generation networks 3G + (3-Carrier HSDPA technology) on the Ukrainian market that enable data transmission at speeds of 63.3 Mbit / s. This speed is achieved through a three-channel data transmission technology.
4.5G (LTE-Advanced Pro) is the next wireless standard designed to replace 4G (LTE) standard. It provides a higher quality of data transmission and the more efficient use of the frequency spectrum.
Burak Ersoy, the CEO of LIFECELL, said that to date the operator is ready for the implementation of modern technologies, but it requires to agree all regulatory standards.
Also he said that today the level of smartphones penetration in the operator’s network is quite high, but only a few percent of these devices support 4G / LTE standard.
As we have written before, fourth-generation network testing was held by Intellecom and Vodafone Ukraine companies.
