Russian Sistema, SJFC has changed the ownership structure of the DTH-platform providing satellite TV services under the MTS brand. This was written by Kommersant newspaper.

Changing the ownership structure is related to the need to comply the company’s activities with the Russian legislation that restricts the presence of foreign capital in media companies.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, Sergei Shishkin, the vice-president and general manager of integrated corporate board of System, SJFC which owns 79.99 % of DTV (Digital TV and Radio Broadcasting), has become the main owner of DTV instead of “Systema Mass-media”. At the same time 20 % of the shares are still owned by Systema Mass-Media’s subsidiary company, and the rest of them belong to Ostankino, FSUE TCC.

DTV Company received a license for the provision of satellite services using ABS-2 satellite in July 2014. Later, the MTS Group’s press secretary stated that the investment in the project will amount to about RUR 5 billion.

The satellite platform under the MTS brand is developing rather slowly – as of the second quarter of this year the number of its subscribers was just 50,000 which gives it a share of 0.3 % in the Russian DTH market.
