State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine wants to help people with hearing problems to receive information from TV screens.

State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine has prepared a draft law with the basic rules requiring easier access to information for people with hearing impairments. This was written by Telekritika referring to the press service of the government agency.

Earlier, the draft law was published for public comments.

The Committee believes that this law can determine the share of daily television programs broadcasting for people who have hearing problems.

The provisions of the document stipulate the establishment until 2017 the proportion of total daily broadcasting adapted for the persons with hearing impairments via Ukrainian sign language interpretation and/or subtitling in proportion at least 10 % (except for advertising). By 2018, this share should be increased to 20 %, and to or from 2020 – to 50 %.

At present, the draft law “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine to improve access to information for persons with hearing impairment” is under consideration in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Earlier Mediasat reported that in Ukraine will appear Internet TV channel GlusiTV designed specifically for hard hearing people.
