Telco Trends 2016: Interesting Speakers and Excellent Presentations

The International Telecommunications Conference Telco Trends, which is the largest one in the Baltic States, finished in Jurmala.

The best industry experts from the EU and the CIS assessed the situation on the market, predicted development trends and discussed further policy reforms of the telecommunications sector. Speech presentations are available at the home page of Telco Trends.

The forum began with a discussion of the EU strategy “Single Digital Europe”. Deputy State Secretary of the IT Department at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Edmunds Belskis shared news from Brussels and told what metamorphosis expect the market participants. But experts from Poland, Lithuania and Latvia reported how the reforms affected the business of telecommunications companies.

Great interest among both market participants and the media caused a topic of information warfare. Experts from Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine told how the prohibition of certain Russian channels affected TV audience and business of pay TV operators, providing interesting facts and figures. Also, the topic of piracy attracted focused attention of wider public: especially tools and methods to fight with pirated resources.

Traditionally, the forum was attended by consulting companies.
Expert of J ‘son & Partners Consulting Dmitry Kolesov analysed the dynamics of the international market of TV and OTT services. A director of TNS Latvia Martins Traubergs appreciated the changes of audience of TV channels as a consequence of content regulation.

This year, completely new topic for the forum had been discussed at Telco Trends: payment systems. Head of Development Department of payment service of QIWI Roman Tikhonov and President of the Association “Electronic Money” Viktor Dostov talked about how to effectively use the opportunities of payment systems in the telecommunications business.

The presentation of the content novelties was carried out under the tactful guidance of the Chief Editor of “Kabelshyuk” Iana Belskaya. Participants of Telco Trends listened to the presentations of
the “Digital TV” Channel One, BALTIJAS MEDIJU ALIANSE, RED MEDIA, AETN UK, STREAM, Media Broadcasting Group (Russia), as well as to the general partner of Telco Trends – SES: “Ultra HD: The Journey Has Begun”.

As usually, the exhibition of technical innovations had been working, but representatives of TELIA LATVIA, ASTRO STROBEL, BKTEL, IRDETO, EUTELSAT and LEVIRA told about technical television and multimedia solutions from leading manufacturers.

The International Telecommunications Conference Telco Trends is the largest industry event in the Baltic States. Traditionally, the forum takes place in Jurmala in mid-August. Within three days about 400 experts from the EU and the CIS discuss the hottest topics of industry, organize private meetings, but in the evening they have an interesting entertainment program.
