Tricolor TV launched a satellite internet service

The Russian satellite TV operator Tricolor TV launched satellite Internet access service for its subscribers on a commercial basis.

Tricolor TV in partnership with Eutelsat Networks has launched the service of two-way satellite Internet access. This was stated in the operator’s press release, Mediasat has a copy of this document.

The users living in Eutelsat 36C satellite coverage area (36˚E) can use this service.

Satellite Internet access by Tricolor TV allows two-way access to the network at speeds up to 40 Mbit/s for a direct link and up to 12 Mbit/s for the reverse link.

The minimum tariff includes 1 gigabyte of traffic and will cost RUR 275 per month (about $ 4). Further, the cost of tariffs increases in proportion to the traffic volume.

Aleksei Karpov, the Director of Sales and Customer Service of Tricolor TV, said that in August HUB-station in Dubna has already been launched, and testing of all systems for interaction was conducted together with the client. He also noted that satellite Internet access will be the most popular in far and inaccessible areas where the other ways of the Internet access are difficult to implement.

To get access to the service, special equipment Gemini-i will be required, it can be purchased at the dealer network of Tricolor TV.

As a reminder, Eutelsat Networks company was established in 2014 as a subsidiary of the global satellite operator Eutelsat. The main mission of the company is provision of satellite broadband Internet access services (SBBA) in Ka-band via Eutelsat 36C satellite.
