In addition, 3G coverage may also appear in Zaporizhia.

Two leading Ukrainian mobile operators – Kyivstar and MTS Ukraine (Vodafone) – are planning to invest in building of 3G-networks in the cities affected by military operations in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

This statement was made by the representatives of both companies.

Operators are planning to complete providing 3G-coverage in frontline areas by the end of this year.

“Plans for launching 3G networks in the cities of ATO zone depend on the timing of issuance the approval documents for the use of electronic equipment. Kyivstar will launch 3G commercial service in Kramatorsk and Slaviansk in October. Launches in another 5 cities of the region are planned till the end of 2016″ – they said in the press-service of Kyivstar.

As known, today 3G network is still absent in three cities of Ukraine – Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia and Cherkasy – due to the problems with radio frequency conversion.

Meanwhile, the representatives of MTS said to reporters at a recent meeting that there is a chance to launch 3G-coverage in Zaporizhia till the end of this year. But Kyivstar representatives do not hurry to encourage regarding network coverage – the exact timing of the conversion completion is not known.
