The changes in the country’s telecommunications industry for the present year are made public on its website by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus.
The number of subscribers to the broadband Internet access is 2.99 million, IPTV subscribers – 1.439 million, GPON connections – 956.5 thousand, IMS-platform – 1.657 million.
External Internet access channel is expanded up to 920 Gbit/s.
In April this year, it was started the system “Smart Home”.
98.2% of the territory is covered by cellular mobile telecommunications; there were put into operation another 2.2 thousand UMTS base stations. The number of subscribers of cellular mobile telecommunications amounted to 11.4 million people. Furthermore, there were used 40 transmitting units and 35 radio transmitters in order to expand broadcasting and improve the quality of services.
The number of users of commercial TV increased by 22 thousand subscribers in 2016, thus reaching the total mark of 123 thousand people.
