Moldova Runs the First Digital Terrestrial Television Multiplex

The signal of the first multiplex with national coverage for 15 TV stations will cover 80% of Moldova’s population, as NOI.md reports, referring to the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications.

Under the contracts with the state-owned enterprise Radiocomunicaţii, the digital signal of the first multiplex in Moldova will at once cover 80% of residents. Initially, it incorporates 8 TV programs to be broadcasted based on the digital terrestrial TV system.

On November 1, the residents of Moldova gained an option of receiving available TV in the digital format by using decimeter antennas, if their TV-sets have MPEG-4 playback and DVB-T2 tuner available.

The first package of digital TV in Moldova is available through several channels: Trifesti Area (Soroca) channel 28; Mindresti Area (Drochia, Ungheni) channel 22; Edinet Area, channel 30; Causeni Area (Bender) channel 21; Straseni Area (Chisinau, Ivancea, Hancesti) and Cahul Area (Comrat, Leova, Baimaclia, Cimislia) channel 36.
