The operator of satellite telecom systems “Ukrkosmos” has been modernizing its teleport, passing to the “universal teleport” concept, which would provide a 100% satellite signal backup. This information was announced in the Mediasat’s interview with Yuri Balychev, First Deputy Director General at the state-owned enterprise.

The upgraded teleport of “Ukrkosmos” has analogues in Europe, but it is the first and the only one in Ukraine.

“There are a lot of such teleports in Europe, but no one in Ukraine yet”, as Mr. Balychev says.

“Ukrkosmos” has long been working on the implementation of the teleport concept.

“What is the difference between a teleport and just a station? This is a complex of antennas and high-frequency and digital equipment, which can use several satellites simultaneously. We are not tied to any single operator or satellite. We have four transceiving complexes that can operate with at once four satellites”, as Mr. Balychev clarifies.

The Management of “Ukrkosmos” also believes that the delivery of TV channels’ signals via satellite can compete with IP signal delivery. At the same time, the quality and reliability of the above satellite solution are far better, as the operator’s spokesmen remark.
