Netflix Adapts for Ukrainian Audience

The global online cinema Netflix initiated own content localization in Ukraine. This is featured by the portal RBCUkraine.

The video service Netflix started cooperating with some Ukrainian and Russian dubbing studios. The cooperation goal is to adapt video content for Ukrainian users.

Netflix also recruits staff, responsible for checking finished subtitles for errors.

The Netflix headquarters declined to comment on this information, but this is usual for the giant on the video service market. As a rule, the company does not announce its intentions until the project implementation.

According to RBC-Ukraine, at the initial stage of localizing content library, which accounts for over 13 thousand pieces, the company will produce Russian-language subtitles. The next possible step is to add Ukrainian-language subtitles. A total dubbing into Russian or Ukrainian it is not yet underway.

Let us recall that the online cinema Netflix started operating in Ukraine and another 129 countries in January of present year. In September, the company came to an agreement on acquiring rights to show the Ukrainian TV series “The  Servant of the people”, and in October, the US media giant closed a deal on buying a Russian-made TV series.
