The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine decided to test 3G+ Internet Bandwidth offered by the company Lifecell, which advertises that it is the fastest one. This is reported by Liga.net.

The investigation details are not disclosed, since the investigation involves one of Lifecell’s competitors.

As is known, the three operators, keeping all cellular communication in Ukraine under their control, obtained 3G licenses simultaneously in 2015. At the same time, it was Lifecell that won the tender first, taking the most expensive frequency and paying for it 3 billion 355 million hryvnias (the starting price of the frequency was 2 billion 708 million hryvnias).

At that time, the frequency was virtually less busy, and Lifecell took advantage of that, starting laying emphasis on it. Provided that Lifecell operates applying the 3C-HSDPA/Triple Carrier HSDPA technology (3G+), a theoretic data transmission rate can be up to 63.3 Mbit/s.

In the meantime, “Kyivstar” stated that it applied similar technology. However, the problem of both operators is that the standard just does not fit existing smartphones. The market consists of devices with integrated 3G system, and it is planed to be supplied with smartphones supporting new-generation standards like 4G and 5G. Accordingly, 3G+ is unable to prove itself in Ukraine, and the Internet Bandwidth in the familiar 3G standard can not exceed 42 Mbit/s.
