On January 1, there comes into effect the Draft Law №3504 “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” (Specifying Terms and Conditions for Broadcasts of TV and Radio Companies under the Must-Carry Obligations)”, which was passed by the Verkhovna Rada in October and signed by the President in early November.

So, in the coming year, the media groups are authorized to demand from pay-TV operators a fee for broadcasting channels in their networks.

At the moment, the media groups made public the minimum price of their content for pay-TV networks, when contracting in December of present year. Let us remark that channels are sold in packages only.

  • TV Package by the 1+1 media (6 channels like “1+1”, “2+2”, “TET”, “PlusPlus”, “Unian TV” and “Bigudi”) costs 0.75 hryvnas per 1 subscriber monthly.
  • TV Package by the StarLightMedia (6 channels like “STB”, “ICTV”, “Novyi Kanal”, “QTV”, “M1” and “M2”) costs 0.75 hryvnas per 1 subscriber monthly. The offer is valid until January 1, and then the distribution price will be 1.5 hryvnas per 1 subscriber.
  • TV Package by the “Media Group Ukraine” (3 channels like “Ukrayina”, “NLO TV” and “Indigo TV”) costs 0.45 hryvnas per 1 subscriber monthly.
  • TV Package by the Inter Media Group (9 channel like “Inter”, “NTN”, “Mega”, “Enter-Film”, “Pixel”, “K1”, “K2”, “Zoom” and “EuroNews”) costs 3 hryvnas per 1 subscriber monthly.

The above prices bear a reservation that media groups will agree the fee with every service provider, depending on its subscriber base.

According to media groups, “prices may increase severalfold from 1 January, 2017”.

The distribution price in cable networks was also announced by “Channel 5”, i.e. 0.1 hryvnas per 1 subscriber monthly.
