Last night, the it was approved the draft law providing for raising price for 1MHz of 4G radio frequencies by 488 times, as the Liga.Biznes informs.
Draft law №5132 implies an almost 500-fold increase in tariffs for using radio frequencies in the bands of 2.3-2.4 MHz and 2.5-2.7 MHz, and it is UAH 20 000 per 1 MHz against the former price of UAH 40.
The purpose of such a large price increase is a way to release unused frequencies for tendering, because for the time being, the companies that control, but do not use frequencies will be those to overpay. These are companies like Intelekom (Giraffe), MMDS Ukraine and Es-Line.
Now, the market players will have to think about whether frequencies are worth the above costs. For example, Rinat Akhmetov, who owns MMDS Ukraine, will have to pay for frequencies UAH 1.6 billion instead of UAH 2 million.
