Since the date of entering into force of the Law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting””, the pay-TV operators switched to the new market rules by renewing contracts with the 1+1 Media. At present, the Group has reached agreements with the vast majority of cable operators (almost 95%), according to the published press release.

“We are pleased that the Ukrainian TV industry enters a new age, which will allow keeping the high quality of national production and laying the ground to build a transparent and civilized pay-TV market, where subscribers are aware of the value of the consumed content and they influence the formation of broadcasting content of the operators’ TV packages. At the same time, a number of providers decided to “drop out of the market” and gave up providing services of delivering signal of all Ukrainian TV groups to their subscribers. Despite this, the channels of the 1+1 Media  Group (1+1, 2+2, TET, PLYUSPLYUS, Bigudi, UNIAN TV) still remain fully available to the TV audience. Above all, their cut-off, as well as the cut-off of other TV groups’ channels is due to the fact that those operators put their income above the interests of subscribers. In this regard, we can recommend to our viewers to seek replacement for such operators”, as commented on by Andriy Malchevskyi, Head of Broadcasting Network Distribution and Development Department at 1+1 Media.

Moreover, some cable operators not only refuse to pay for content, but are undertaking content piracy attempts. In this case, the 1+1 Media is going to record all these facts of illegal broadcasts of TV product and to initiate criminal proceedings, defending its interests in a lawful manner.

Let us recall that on 1 January 2017, there came into force the Law №3504 “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting”, which allows the media groups to charge operators a fee for broadcasting channels in pay-TV networks.

The “Inter Media Group” announced reaching an agreement with 98% of cable network operators to rebroadcast all TV channels of the group.
