By the end of winter, the channels will be distributed via the satellite simultaneously in two formats MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.

On March 1, the satellite broadcasting of the TV channels “Trophy” “Dacha”, “Epoch”, “Terra”, “Science”, “Fauna” and “First Car Channel” will be carried out in Ukraine only in MPEG-4 format. This was told to the Mediasat’s reporter by the company “Kontinent TV” engaged in distributing the above channels.

The “Kontinent TV” also added that before March 1, the distribution of the above channels’ satellite signal will be carried out simultaneously in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats.

The format MPEG-4 allows for saving satellite capacities, which permits an operator to run additional channels. MPEG-4 will also allow a channel to move to the HD format in the future.

Let us recall that “Trophy” is a 24-hour TV channel about hunting and fishing. “Dacha” is a TV channel for audience can see current tips on gardening and plant breeding. “Epoch” is a 24-hour documentary TV channel about personalities, events, inventions and discoveries of mankind. “Terra” is 24-hour educational channel about travelling, science, history and people. “Science” is a popular-science educational channel about the progress in science. “Fauna” is a TV channel about wildlife. And “First Car Channel” will appeal to car enthusiasts.
