During the meeting held on February 24, the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council decided to ban rebroadcasting the Russian TV channel “Okhotnik y Rybolov HD” (Hunter and Fisher HD) in the Ukrainian cable networks. This was announced by the member of the National Council Serhiy Kostynskyi on his Facebook profile.

The reason for banning was the show “The Star on the Hook”, featuring Yevgeny Konopelkin, the GRU Colonel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The regulatory authority resolved that the show was dedicated to the battalion commander of the Russian GRU Special Forces Unit in Chechnya, what was an unconditional example of promoting special units of the aggressor-nation.

“The decision to limit the channel’s rebroadcasting in the Ukrainian cable networks shall enter into force one month after date”, as stated Serhiy Kostynski in his message.

Let us recall that earlier, the regulatory authority banned rebroadcasting the Russian news channel “Dozhd” (Rain) and the film channel “Teleclub” in the cable networks.

Thus, from 2014 onwards, the National Council limited rebroadcasting of 78 of the 82 Russian TV channels for their violations of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and Radio Broadcasting and the laws of Ukraine.
