The cellular operator lifecell does not provide mobile services in the uncontrolled part of the Donetsk region from February 22. This information was made public by the operator’s press office.

“On February 22, our company’s facilities, which operated in a standalone mode on the uncontrolled Ukrainian territories of Donetsk region, were blocked”, as stated in the press office’s message.

A year before, the lifecell also stopped providing telecom services on the territories of Luhansk region seized by militants, as the company specified.

Let us recall that in February 2015, the offices and facilities of the company “Kyivstar”, located in Donetsk, were seized by gunmen. Later on, the network control was delivered to the so-called “Ministry of Communications of the Donetsk People’s Republic”, which subsequently set up the local mobile operator “Phoenix” on the basis of that network.

On the uncontrolled Ukrainian territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, there currently operates the network Vodafone Ukraine, yet in a standalone mode.

Let us recall that on March 1, after the seizure of the “Ukrtelecom”’s office, the operator decided to cut off communication in the occupied Donetsk region.
