The officers of the Cybercrime Prevention Unit in Odessa Region within the Black Sea Division of the Cyber Police found out the mastermind of the online resource icinemax.net, which distributed and broadcasted pirated content. This is reported on the official web site of the Cyber Police.
As it turned out, the administration and content filling of the online cinema was arranged by a resident of Mykolayiv Region. During the search, the officers of the Cybercrime Prevention Unit detected and seized computer equipment for supporting icinemax.net operation.
It is reported that the trespasser inflicted damage to the right holders totalling over UAH 3 million.
The online resource’s operation is closed. The pre-trial investigation is under way.
“For the committed acts, the violator may face a significant fine or imprisonment for up to two years and confiscation of all copies of content, physical media and software”, as the Cyber police stated.
