On July 1, the Russian TV market will welcome the broadcasting of the educational TV channel “Doctor”, dedicated to medicine. Setting up and launching this TV channel is the responsibility of the company “Digital Television” (VGTRK/Rostelecom).

The “Doctor” will join the “Digital Television” family’s educational TV channels (“My Planet”, “Science”, “History”, among others). It will be entirely devoted to the problems of medicine and human health.

The channel will be available in the cable, satellite and multiservice networks of operators throughout Russia, including such large providers as “Rostelecom”, “NTV-PLUS” and “Akado”. The “Doctor” will be distributed by the “Signal Media”, including in the CIS countries.

“The TV channel “Doctor” is the first experience in Russia to discuss healthcare seriously with world-class specialists on behalf of the audience nationwide. The health issues concern everyone, and this is not just a condition of a long life, but the very feature of a successful, educated, and modern human being”, as commented on by Evelina Zakamskaya, the editor-in-chief of the TV channel, the head of the channel’s scientific area and the presenter of the channel “Russia 24”.

The broadcasting content of the TV channel “Doctor” will be shaped by shows of own production, and there are more than 15 lines of documentaries and special reports, as well as a studio unit, i.e. interviews with leaders of the healthcare industry, talk shows and discussions. This year, the channel plans to produce about 350 hours of premiere TV content.

“We create the TV channel “Doctor” as one of the most responsible and serious media projects on Russian television. The prospects for this profile like the TV medicine’s ones in general, are extensive and we will develop it by means of high-quality content, serious expertise and responsibility”, as added by Dmitry Mednikov, Chairman of the Board at “Digital Television”.

Let us recall that launching a TV channel, dedicated to healthcare issues, in the Russian market first became known in early May this year.
