At its recent meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended the deadline for using analog TV until 30 June 2018, thereby shifting the date of transiting to the digital broadcasting standards.

Leonid Yevdochenko, Chairman of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection, explained that decision “by a number of unresolved financial and socioeconomic problems that were hindering transition from analog broadcasting to the digital one”.

Let us recall that on June 22, the NCCIR approved the Cabinet of Minister’s draft resolution on extending analog TV broadcasting technology’s use until 30 July 2018. And in May, the Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council Iurii Artemenko explained why Ukraine would not cut off the analog TV in the current year.

Therefore, the terrestrial television in Ukraine can continue its simultaneous existence in digital (DVB-T2) and analog format for another one year.
