1.6 million Subscribers Enjoy IPTV Service in Belarus

The penetration rate of IPTV Service shows a sustainable growth in Belarus.

Thus, according to the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, the number of IPTV subscribers amounted to 1.6 million in the first half of the year, showing an increase of 85,000 users, against the previous year.

The Ministry’s report also states that the number of fixed BBA subscribers reached 3 million and 100 thousand in the first half of the year, which is more than 32% of the country’s population.

This result was obtained due to putting in service 3.5 thousand km of FOCL, according to the GPON technology. This also allowed increasing the subscriber base connected to the GPON-based network, and today it has practically lined up with 1 million 400 thousand.

“The overall number of subscribers using broadband wireless Internet access throughout the country increased by 400.5 thousand subscribers, compared to the beginning of the year, reaching 6.4 million”, as the report states.

The population coverage with mobile services in the LTE standard was 60 percent, as of 1 July 2017, and the services are provided in 29 large district centers, all regional centers and the city of Minsk. An average LTE traffic consumption amounted to 5.8 GB per subscriber. In total, 11.3 million Belarus residents enjoy mobile services.
