Three Satellite TV Operators Rank the TOP Largest Telecom Companies in Russia

“Tricolor TV”, “NTV-PLUS” and “Orion” are present in the rating of the largest telecom companies in Russia at year-end 2016, compiled by the Cnews Analytics.

So, according to the analytics agency, the revenue of “Tricolor TV” increased by 20.5% in 2016, against 2015, and amounted to RUB 17.9 billion, which allowed the operator to remain in the Top-10.

The TOP-20 telecom companies also incorporate the “Orion” Holding, which provides satellite TV services to individual subscribers under the “Telekarta” brand. The company’s revenue showed a 3.6% growth and amounted to RUB 3.5 billion in 2016.

The company “NTV-PLUS”, which was not present in the rating for 2015, managed to rank 16th at year-end 2016. The company’s revenue amounted to RUB 5.709 billion, which was 8.9% more than in 2015.

It is noteworthy that neither “Tricolor TV”, nor “NTV-PLUS” disclose their staff number, while 361 employees work for the good of the “Orion” Group.

The CNews Telecom 2017 Rating also includes two satellite communications operators like FSUE “Satellite Communications” (RSCC) and JSC Gazprom Space Systems (GSS).

RSCC climbed three spots in the ranking (against 2015). The company increased its revenue from providing services by 23.7%, while the company’s turnover amounted to RUB 11.4 billion (excl. VAT) at year-end 2016.

The GSS retained its 17th spot in the ranking. Its revenue in 2016 equaled to RUB 5.479 billion, which was 8.9% more than in 2015.

The Top-3 in the CNews Telecom 2017 Rating has not changed against 2015. The MTS still goes on number one, the Megafon ranks second, and the third one is Rostelecom.

Let us remark that along with operators of satellite, wire-line, cellular and fixed-line communications, there is one cloud telephony operator “Mango Telecom” among the Top-32 largest telecom companies. Its revenue was RUB 1.688 billion in 2016. This was 20.4% more than in 2015.
