One of the largest Ukrainian telecom operators VOLIA Company can be sold to the Mexican media magnate Carlos Slim for USD 112 million. This is reported by the edition Mind, referring to anonymous sources on the market.

The edition obtained a confirmation that negotiations with “Volia” were initiated some two weeks ago by Carlos Slim, Mexican businessman of Lebanese origin, who was ranked as the richest person in the world in 2010-2013. His fortune is estimated at USD 52.8 billion. Mr. Slim owns 57 percent share of America Movil, holding company Grupo Carso, which controls a number of large companies, including in the field of infrastructure construction.

In 2014, the billionaire became a shareholder of a large European telecom group Telekom Austria Group. This Group’s assets include the largest mobile operator in Belarus Velcom, among others.

The VOLIA Company does not comment on the above information.

Let us recall that the talks of selling VOLIA have been in the air for some years on the market. Thus, in the autumn of 2017, mass media featured Borys Lozhkin’s eagerness to buy VOLIA’s assets. A year earlier, it was reported about the intended deal between VOLIA and Kyivstar.
