Mediasat wrote about the agenda of the conference “Days of the Caucasian Cable TV and Media Industry – 2018”, September 26-27, Tbilisi, as well as about the attention of participants from numerous countries that the conference drew. We asked Guram Beruashvili, President of the Cable TV Union of Georgia, to share details about the issues to be discussed during the conference and the situation on the Georgian TV market.

Mr. Beruashvili told us that the issues of relationships between operators, copyright holders and the government are relevant for the markets players of many countries, since they generally face similar problems. It is anticipated that the conference would result in adopting a resolution on the required adequate legislative regulation of the industry. More specifically, to limit dumping, to prevent from cartel agreements that lead to monopolization, to discuss the must carry service. At that, the issue of regularizing relations with the copyright holders remains topical.
