Following the successful trial launch of digital TV in the Tver Oblast, the remaining country regions must cut off analog before June 3, as Izvestia informs.

It is reported that Russia has been carried out digital TV switch-over for 10 years. 200 billion rubles were spent on this process, but the final digitalization require the residents and regional budgets to invest another 1 billion rubles, and it will cost 30-35 million rubles a year to the regional TV broadcasters.

As a result, the Russians will get access to two packages incorporating 20 channels in digital format, which used to be a privilege of PPV TV subscribers.

In turn, the government authorities will also remain “in the black” due to replenishing the federal budget with 50-250 billion rubles by selling liberated frequencies to business companies.

Let us recall that earlier the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media stated that the digital broadcasting switch-over would not affect the number of TV viewers in Russia.
