The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media has been considering the option of providing frequencies to OneWeb, but these actions should not harm Russian operators. This was announced by the Deputy Minister Oleg Ivanov, as reported by TASS.

“There are absolutely clear requirements for security, user identification, and radio frequency spectrum use. We cannot allocate any radio frequency spectrum without compromising our operators,” as Mr. Ivanov commented on.

He also specifies that Russia possesses free frequencies and can hand them over to OneWeb in the future. However, until frequency coordination is carried out, there will be no positive decision for the company.

Let us recall that in 2017, OneWeb and Roscosmos forwarded their request to the National Radio Spectrum Commission’s for the allocation of several frequencies. However, the above request has not been satisfied yet.

As Mediasat reported earlier, the former Minister of Communications of Russia invited businessmen to invest in OneWeb.
