The Internet may appear on airplanes in Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers granted to the State Space Agency (SSA) permission for using the radar station in Mukachevo and allocated frequencies for satellite communications, as RBC-Ukraine reports.

It is stated that the 5N86 station “Dnepr” in Mukachevo has remained out of operation since 2009, but now it will serve to the State Space Agency as a satellite communication center for launching satellite communications on aircraft.

The frequency bands allocated by the Government will be used to implement ESOMP technology, which provides satellite communications using ground stations on moving platforms.

Let us recall that last month, the Ukrainian International Airlines (UIA) announced that it would be probably launch Wi-Fi on its Boeing 777-200ER aircraft as late as April, when all organizational issues were settled down.
